I love encouraging children to be scientists.

As a child, I wanted to be the first woman on Mars. (That still could happen!)

My Uncle Bill was a rocket scientist (really!) He inspired me to learn about the stars and planets. As a kid I also loved building things (and taking things apart!) I studied Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, then got my Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Michigan. I still enjoy both star-gazing and building stuff.

You’ll find towering stacks of books at my bedside and scattered around my house. I became a children’s book author rather late in life, but I love this new career.

I especially enjoy working with children for nature programs and school visits. If you’d like me to visit your science museum, nature center, or classroom, leave me a message - I’d be thrilled to see you!
